The Olympics are over and we are back to gaming.

We were ready for it to be over so we could get back to Final Fantasy 6 - bad us...

I was also ready so I could get back to writing.

I was so dead last night I went to bed at 9pm and immediately passed out. Slept until 3:30am, when I woke up and a story I have been working on in my head wouldn't leave me alone. I refused to physically work on it, though - my eyes were burning badly, even closed. Finally fell back to sleep about 4:30am and had an Indiana Jones dream with a mystery text to solve, secret doors, a Victorian house filled with skeletons in beds because of a tragedy and a lot of interesting details.

Today is the last day for the prednisone so I will need to sit back and let it work itself out of my system before I can tell if the pain is going to come back in full force. I am going to give it until next week.

I suspect I will be passing out early for the next few weeks. I don't think this is old age hitting - something is fucking with me.

Time to get ready for work - thrills, chills and excitment...

No, fucking no, no, NO!

*sigh*

The prednisone doses have been cut back and I have only a couple of days left until I am done.

I woke up this morning with neck pain. I now feel it in my back, again. NO! I WANT this pain to end and I DON'T want to take this shit anymore - it makes me want to eat ALL THE TIME.

You know what it's like to be falling asleep but MUST go nuke some soup because your damned body demands it? I HATE being out of control when it comes to eating - I haven't been this way since I was a kid! I haven't had much an appetite for about five years now, lost weight because of it, and now I get hit with this???

I am actually hurting myself eating apples because at least the calorie count is low and they satisfy the damned food craving momentarily, even as they wreck me later on. Currently I can finish eating a full meal that would last an entire day in the past and start into something immediately after getting home. I HATE it! I feel so fucking out of control!

I HATE the idea I may have to live with THIS pain permanently. My neck grinds!

*remains pissed off and signs out*

I really will not be around the next two days...

Tomorrow, Thursday, is that damned conference and now my ride has another rider who has to be there early and must stay later than we planned. I have to meet the ride before 7 fucking 45 in the morning tomorrow. Ugh.

I will most probably be taking otaku with me but I doubt any y-fi will be available. I hope to write while looking like I am taking notes in the BORING panels. I may be able to find somewhere to hide but we shall see. I will have to move around so I am not in the same place too long.

Friday is staff development but we have to work on the budget, too, and there is no reason for me to be there for that but I am stuck anyway. The day was supposed to be for us to get away from that crap and do something interesting together, not work. It's not my fault you shits won't sit at your desks and DO YOUR JOBS so the rest of us have to take up the slack and suffer for it because you are incompetent and refuse to look at the deadline schedule. Bastards.

Damned meds are making me hungry all the time...

I am exhausted - I think I may need to give up on the Olympics and just go to bed.

The motorola software we have to transfer files to our phones hates rat's cell. I try to upload the little animated gifs he wants for his screensaver and it refuses, but it loves my phone and lets me upload all sorts of things. I have official Gravi wallpapers and the next project will be getting some of my own artwork on my phone.

Uploaded a couple of the Final Fantasy 7 fight music sequences to my phone this morning. We love that music - we are big fans of music with minor chords. A piccolo section works well as a ringtone but, of course, the main music, with the chords building up then dropping down, is our preferred sound. Got them both in the phone now.

I went out and found the ff victory music this morning, turned off some of the voices so the phrasing did not continue and now I have that TA-DA music as featured in Advent Children. Can't wait to flaunt it in front of rat tonight.

I feel like crap but I must go to work anyway...

Bloody exhausted.

I was to the point I wanted the Olympics to be over so I could just go to bed last night. My eyes were killing me and I could barely keep them open. I stumbled into the bedroom, eyes almost shut and rat followed shortly after to sleep, too. Then he decided to start talking to me about my day, which got me all charged up, then I could not sleep at ALL, even though my eyes were burning and my body was begging for it. I think I finally geared down again and fell asleep about 3am. I woke him up at one point and told him, "no more talking about work and stuff when we go to bed now!" because I was now all stirred up. I ended up reading over some story notes.

I did get to tell him how the Snake showed more people how stupid he was yesterday, when the Snake asked me (in front of witnesses) the same questions he asked me months ago and I explained, twice, all the decisions that had already been made, by him, back then. The Snake didn't remember! Can we say internally gleeful on my part? I think I am going to start sending the Snake emails on each little subject, just so when the mails get thrown away and I retain mine, I can print them and shove them under that little Snaky note.

So now I am feeling like crap, not just the rest of the crap I am dealing with but the exhaustion crap, too.

The regular crap makes my body feel like someone comes in while I am sleeping and bludgeons on my body all night so when I wake up in the morning I am sore, even in my joints.

It has been spring weather around here, with the temps reaching low 70's at one point. Today, the high is supposed to be 36, because of the cold front that blew through yesterday evening. They are promising a wintery mix this weekend, to which I say - Freeze Up MONDAY so there will be NO SCHOOL!

Next week is that damned all-District Conference, when both Faculty and Staff will be going - and shutting down all the district campuses because of it. The conference site does not have enough parking for everyone to bring their own cars so they are saying if you show up by yourself in your car you cannot park in the official parking! They are requiring people to carpool or take shuttles or trains. If I took the train, I would have to leave at least two hours prior to my usual time because it would take me completely out of the way before transferring and going in the direction I need to go. I had signed up for the shuttle from our campus but one of the guys is willing to carpool so I will be going with him instead. I do not know if my officemate will be going with us, too. He has scoped out the map and says he will park at the Walmart and walk over if they really get snitty about parking at the center.

I am to the point I find these conferences a big waste of time and money. They used to be fun - now they are boring. I am debating on taking otaku with me and just finding a place to sit and write during the break-out sessions. Either that, or carry the drawing pad and pencil box like I have done at all the other conferences and see if Evan is around to inspire me. I am more tempted to take otaku, though, just because I HAVE been inspired to write, not draw.

the joy of feeling like crap most of the time...

Woke up with neck pain and headache so I decided it was time to find out if I really had meningitis. Got to the office and called to get blood test but found out the doc WAS in this week after all, so I left work and went in.

So, what is the verdict, you might ask?

No meningitis - the doc said I would not be able to move my neck at all if I had it.

My low-grade fever, swollen glands, inflamed neck, shoulders, back, etc. and sore joints all pointed to a virus - not something treatable with antibiotics. However, the inflamation could be treated and so, once again, I am taking Prednisone. It is half-strength from what I took before and I only have to take it for two weeks: five days of three times a day, five days of twice a day, five days of once a day. He wants to nuke it hard to make sure all the inflamation is taken down.

*sigh*

Are we having fun yet?

ramblings...

I was getting the covers on the bed straightened out while IN the bed in the middle of the night and when I flung some fabric to one side, my left pinky ring flew off and went into the great abyss. I couldn't do much searching with the snoring log beside me and the plethora of covers (piles of blankets and such to keep my feet warm) meant it could have buried itself anywhere. Oh well, this is the second pinky ring I have lost with a flick of a wrist. I replaced the right one I lost back in the summer but now I have to wait until the local ren faire before I can find a replacement for this one. These are narrow bands of sterling silver, so I usually cannot find anything like it in a regular jewelry store - they would not sell anything that simple or inexpensive. First, losing the swelling from the carpel tunnel syndrome then losing weight has caused me to lose rings. And now all the rings I purchased when my carpel tunnel was keeping my fingers swollen all the time no longer fit. I have to keep a very tight ring on my ring finger to keep my diamonds from falling off and they do fall off without the guard, even when my hands are warm now.

My pinkie still has a dent surrounding it after over twenty-four hours and I know the jewelry gremlins are having a party.

My neck still hurts after a week. rat thinks it may be a mild case of meningitis, which just has to work itself through my system. I do get a mild headache everyday but that's about it on the list of symptoms so I am ignoring it for the most part. I cannot tell if my exhaustion is from what might potentially be illness or if all this weakness is just my thyroid adjustment. My joints in my right arm were killing me on Saturday and I finally did the stinky BenGay thing and felt a little better for it. rat did get some twinges in his neck Friday and Saturday but I think those are from him sleeping in weird positions. Personally, I think this is the reason why my neck hurts - I just do not move when I go to sleep now - the thyroid adjustment just knocks me out until I am forced to wake up. I am one of those people who gets up in the middle of the night to pee - it ain't happenin' now.

Okay, snow monsters - where is OUR snow? Send some our way now! Sure, the cool weather is nice for a change, but we need some snow, damnit! We need some days of deep freeze to kill the bugs, too!

I need to update my website... Every week has turned into once a month....

The Olympics have been enjoyable for the most part. Too bad about Michelle Kwan.

We haven't gotten a chance to watch Friday's SciFi or Saturday's anime yet. I suspect we will not get to it until after the Olympics, which is fine.

Thus ends the ramble...

For the next two weeks I will be in and out of here (and online in general) because of the Winter Olympics starting up tonight. We do not watch a lot of sports in this household - thankfully! - but the Winter and Summer Olympics are events we do watch pretty consistently while they are being aired. We even timeshift some events from different channels and from early in the morning broadcasts to watch later.

I especially enjoy the Winter games with all that beautiful scenery - if you lived in the land of flat, ugly and hot you would probably like it, too. I can almost imagine and smell the negative ions in the air!

I will still be checking stuff - especially during the morning and at lunchtime, so I will not have completely fallen off the planet!

I had forgotten I had to go to the Intercultural Competence thing this afternoon, or as we call it, Cultural Incompetence. For three hours, I have to sit and be told about how stupid and biased I am.

The last session forced me to think in a way I had not thought for over 35 years - judging people by their looks and what little you know about them in advance. I HATE that!

Of course, ethnicity, sexual preferences, jobs, etc. were all given to us and in different groups we had to look at a photo and decide what characteristics fit the photo. Naturally, my group chose incorrectly, except for the one I specifically fought for.

Stupid group - the point is to pick the person most likely NOT to be the description and that will BE the correct selection - don't you get it?

Such fucking mind games...

Girlfriend Week
I am only as strong as the tea I drink, the hairspray I use and the friends I have.
To the cool women who have touched my life. Here's to you!

National Girlfriends Day
What would most of us do without our confidants and shopping, lunching, and traveling girls?

Let's celebrate each other for each other's sake!

It is good to be a woman:
1. We got off the Titanic first.
2. We can scare male bosses with the mysterious gynecological disorder excuses.
3 Taxis stop for us.
4. We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.
5. No fashion faux pas we make, could ever rival the Speedo.
6. We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves.
7. If we forget to shave, no one has to know.
8. We can congratulate our teammate without ever touching her rear end.
9. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there.
10. We have the ability to dress ourselves.
11. We can talk to the opposite sex without having to picture them naked
12. If we marry someone 20 years younger, we are aware that we will look like an idiot.
13. We will never regret piercing our ears .
14. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems.
15. We can make comments about how silly men are in their presence because they aren't listening anyway.

the world according to blegh...

Note to all:

I am not being anti-social; I am fucked up health-wise.

Dragged around work yesterday, feeling like a dead, limp rag. I know the bastards like me this way - I don't have the energy to protest their crap. I will be dragging around there the rest of the week, as well.

We picked up rat's car last night (no charge for alternator work because it was within warranty!) but rat does not think it has been really fixed so we are going to sit back and watch it for a while. We ate at Spaghetti Warehouse and by the time we got home I was exhausted. I went to bed and did some beta work and some of my own writing and by 9pm I thought I was going to die. I finally got rat to come to bed about 11pm and we both passed out quickly.

Woke up this morning feeling like I had not slept a wink, with that horrible exhaustion deep in my bones, again. My intestine is doing its 'you are not getting enough sleep' twisty-turn again, too.

I guess I need to wait another week before calling the nurse and telling them this is not working, either. My body is saying it has to have thyroid in its system everyday or it rebels.

Of course, there is a chance I have something else chewing on me from the inside out. I think I will look for my garlic caps and take one today - just to get some natural antibiotic in me. We are out of silver and haven't gotten back to the health food store for more.

internet/phone woes

Our Comcast will be turned off on the 7th because they were unwilling to extend the cheap rate. rat will be checking on other high-speed connections before that, however, there is a chance we will be without the internet for a little while, so heads-up.

I will make sure the betas I have in the queue are done before then. We do have one modem connection, but it is connecting at 28.8, which is almost pointless. At least I will be able to see what people are up to, but it will be slow!

We are paying for our cell phones now - first payment with the setup for my phone alone was almost $65! Ouch! It will be cheaper now, but we haven't been able to figure out how much cheaper because the website is being flaky.

It has been nice having pics of the grumpy novelist as wallpaper, though. The sweaty megamix pic is there, too...

writing whine

I really wish I could get some serious writing done so I am looking at the calendar to see when I would be able to take some time off. Since they have taken so much away from me, I keep my work caught up and usually ahead of the game. This means I can be gone when deadlines hit....
